Mexico's hot spot invades the States with a menu full of surprises
Senor Frog's, known throughout Mexico and the Caribbean for its spontaneous and interactive entertainment, is staying true to its 'World Famoso' reputation with the opening of its first U.S. location in Myrtle Beach , South Carolina.

Cancun, Quintana Roo, Mexico - Señor Frog's, famous from Cancun to the Bahamas for bars brimming with "yards" of exotic libations, has officially entered the U.S. with new watering holes and restaurants, the first of which opened in Myrtle Beach in June. The second and third locations are planned for Honolulu and Las Vegas in 2006.

Not only is the mischievous reptilian about to flood the United States with his Mexican mayhem, but he's celebrating his American openings with a brand new menu adorned with authentic Mexican twists and turns.

"The creation of the new menu was like doing the Mambo," said Jorge Hinojosa, vice president of development for Cancun-based parent company, Grupo Anderson's. "We took two steps back, narrowing it down to our popular items; two steps to the right by adding a 'twist' to some of the items; and two steps to the left with new touches to create something completely unique."

Entirely new and never before seen in America are Aqua Tacos -- lettuce wraps filled with cactus salad and chunks of chicken, topped with a green tomatillo sauce and guacamole. A bird of a different feather entirely are Chicken Wings - traditional chicken wings capable of flying high as an eagle raised on chipotle bleu cheese dressing - and watch out for the one that "tries to put up a fight" (see attached photos).

This Mexican flavor appears in many other forms, such as in the Tortilla "No Chicken" Soup and in the Fajita Salad, served in a giant taco shell. The Mexican Hamburger has a style of its own, built up on refried beans and topped with avocado, queso fresco and pico de gallo.

A touch of something different spices up almost every entrée, such as the Lime Roasted Chicken and the Filet Poblano, which is grilled and topped with rajas (Poblano Chile) and a creamy salsa verde sauce.

The Lobster Tacos are served pyramid-style with shredded lettuce, ancho ranch, rajas and onions, and the Taco Tray, which serves two, is presented as a wheel with six condiments for serious taco-making (see attached photos).

The Molcajete is as authentic as it gets - a mortar filled with nopals (from the Cactus plant), arrachera (spiced flank steak), chicken breast, panela cheese, chorizo ("Mexican Pepperoni") and avocado, garnished with salsa roja or salsa verde an served with soft tortillas (photo attached).

Folks who know and love Señor Frog's for its spontaneous and interactive entertainment and unique line of clothing will still find it. But the fun and festivities will have to move over for the food as Señor Frog sets out to conquer America.
